About
This is the IT Theme Blue theme for WordPress, customized and cleaned up by PRMoney. (The original version can be found here: http://www.ndesign-studio.com/)
This theme has been fixed & tested to be compatible with WordPress versions 1.5, 2.0, 2.3.3, 2.5, and MU v1.3.3 (2.3.3) in FireFox 2.0, and Internet Explorer 6 & 7.
WordPress v1.5, 2.0, 2.3.3 & 2.5 users:
You’ll need the Simple Adsense plugin (based on the AdSense Share plugin)
You’ll also want to read this post regarding the new “unimproved” widgets in WP 2.5. It explains how to easily revert to the old 2.3.3 way of dragging-and-dropping widgets. The new interface is a nightmare, and ruins this theme’s widget capabilities.
WordPress MU v1.3.3 users:
You’ll need the AdSense Share plugin, which allows you to set site-wide AdSense Sharing options.
Details:
The IT Theme Blue theme is another technology related theme with a modern, sophisticated look.
The top of the header begins with the Blog title and description on the left, and a Google Ad Links block on the right. In the background is an interesting image that reveals itself to be many butterfly silhouettes upon closer inspection.
The main body has two columns. The left colum contains the blog entries, while the right sidebar contains various functions as well a Google AdSense Links AdUnit. The side bar has been customized to work with WordPress widgets (v2.3.3 & MU only), which allow the different functions to be re-ordered or removed all together. NOTE: If you’re using WordPress v2.5, please read the note above about the ruined widget functionality, and how to easily fix it. Also - the default Search widget is missing appropriate style sheet hooks in v2.5, so don’t use it - use the ‘Blog Search’ widget instead. See the WP2.5 note in the Changes section below
The original theme included additional javacsript functions that allowed the widgets to be moved around by the blog end user regardless of the WordPress version in use, but it was removed due to browser incompatibility issues. It worked perfectly in FireFox, but had different issues in both IE6 & IE7, some of which affected the rendering of the blog pages. It also didn’t seem to be capable of remembering the previous widget locations, so the whole thing seemed pretty pointless for a dynamic blog environment anyway.
The main blog area has been customized to randomly display horizontal AdSense ads between posts. (Single pages will always have at least one.) At the bottom of the page is a footer that spans both columns.
The default right side bar contains a Search, Recent Posts, Categories, Google Image Ad Block, Archives, Meta Links, and Google Ad Links. Additional sidebar widgets are available as well, if your version of WordPress supports them: Pages, Calendar, and Tag Cloud. The widgets menu offers the ability to move those sidebar items around as you see fit.

Changes:
This theme was in pretty bad shape when we first downloaded it.
Modifications to this theme were numerous:
- Added AdSense bits. + Fixed rendering issues (theme authors: ‘overflow: auto;’ is your friend!)
- Fixed many CSS issues for cross-browser compatibility.
- Fixed default search.
- Fixed broken navigation links at the top of single posts.
- Updated for compatibility with old versions of WP (1.5 for example).
- Adjusted margins on sidebar and post entry areas.
- Added missing widgets (oddly enough, the icons for them were not missing.)
- Changed default sidebar widgets.
- Widgetized various sidebar functions.
- Changed a couple of the colors to maintain a consistent look for the theme.
A special note for WordPress 2.5 users - the default search form output doesn’t include all of the necessary CSS ID’s required to format the search widget correctly for this theme. To fix that, a new widget named “Blog Search” replaces the “Search” widget. However, WordPress 2.5 completely ignores the standard unregister widget functions, so both search functions will appear in the widget admin page. Simply remove the “Search” widget from the sidebar and use “Blog Search” instead.
Feedback:
G2Y has gone to great lengths to ensure all of our AdSense-ready WordPress themes work in the latest versions of WordPress, as well as the three major browsers.
The hardest part of modifying an existing theme for use with AdSense is dealing with the messy code found in almost every theme out there. It takes us anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours to fix all the CSS bugs and them implement the AdSense ads in the most profitable locations of the theme.
We’ve also found that theme authors don’t usually bother to actually test their theme to ensure it displays properly in FireFox & Internet Explorer (6 & 7!), or other versions of WordPress. Most theme authors also fail to test various other aspects of their themes, like the widgets, tag cloud, calendar, etc.
Every template on G2Y has been thoroughly tested in FireFox v2.0, Internet Explorer v6 & 7, and WordPress versions 1.5, 2.0, 2.3.3, 2.5, & MU v1.3.3 (2.3.3), but there’s no doubt we’ve missed something, Don’t hesitate to email support@g2y.net with bug reports, or simply leave a comment below.
